ABOUT

Born in İzmir, Türkiye, Lal Utun is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker with a background in psychology and visual arts from Koç University. Working primarily as a cinematographer, she also brings experience as a producer, with films she produced screening at festivals including the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Sarajevo Film Festival. Her work explores themes of identity, perception, and human connection, often through intimate, character-driven storytelling. With a background in dance, she is also interested in collaborations that bring together movement and cinema. Lal is currently pursuing an MFA in Film Production in New York City as a Fulbright Scholar.
